Week 1 Stuffs

Hey everybody!

This weeks to-do was all about our playable prototype to show in class and get feedback. The main goal of this week and next is to really nail down our "game feel". To do not want our game to feel clunky where players get frustrated or annoyed at our controls or how the game plays.

For our programmers, they are working on getting a functional transition between the tile and play area, as well as being able to move the fish and attack. Just some basics so we have something to show and test with real players.

As the artist, I spent some time doing research on possible color themes we could use. For now, one fish will be a teal blue, while the other will be a purple. I still need to figure out what color to make the backdrop / game board that will make the fish stand out with lots of contrast. Possibly a duller color will be needed for that part.

The other thing I accomplished this week was modelling a basic fish. I found a good reference online and used it to make a good looking silhouette. It has not been UV mapped, but I have rigged it and am working on a basic attack and move animation (respectively):
